Body Composition Analysis
Body composition analysis is a method used to measure the proportion of fat, muscle, water, and bone in an individual’s body. This analysis provides detailed information about body fat percentage, muscle mass, and other key metrics, which can help in assessing overall health and fitness levels. The gold standard method for measuring accurate body composition is using the dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan, which is what we use at Harpenden Medical.
This also enables us to monitor the distribution of fat and muscle, identifying where this may contribute to developing disease. Understanding body composition is essential for developing personalised health and fitness plans and monitoring the effectiveness of dietary and exercise interventions.
